Pool Rules and Etiquette
Please review the following list of rules with your family. They are provided for your safety and the safety of your guests. The lifeguards are the final authority and are authorized to require members to leave the pool because of pool rule violations or weather conditions. Failure to abide by any rule (stated or unstated) or if one acts in a manner deemed inappropriate; could result in a time out, expulsion from the pool (either temporarily or permanent), trespassing charges, or other actions deemed necessary.
General Swimming Pool Rules
- Safety is the responsibility of all at the facility.
- All non-swimmers in either pool, with or without a flotation device, must be within arm's reach of a guardian in the water.
- Any person under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.
- Only feet first entries are allowed into the water.
- No diving, except from the diving boards or in water greater than 5 feet deep.
- Hands must enter the water first on all headfirst dives in water greater than a depth of 5 feet.
- No back dives, flips, can openers, cartwheels, or forcing others into the water from ANY side of the pool.
- No horseplay - such as: chicken fights, dunking, or other activities the lifeguards consider unsafe.
- Do not distract the on-duty lifeguards.
- The pool is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. This includes (but isn't limited to) cell phones, I-Pods, or other electronic devices.
Rules of Conduct
- Lifeguards are on-duty for your protection. Treat them with respect.
- Abusive language, tones, or gestures will not be tolerated.
- No running.
- No glass containers.
- No alcoholic beverages.
- No smoking. This includes vape devices.
- No gum.
- No pets.
- Rocks, hard balls, tennis balls, sharp toys, and water guns of any type are not permitted.
- No eating or drinking within 3 feet of the pool.
Lap Lane Rules
- Keep off the lane lines.
- Adults have priority for lap lane use.
- Lap swimmers should share the lanes with other lap swimmers.
- Do not interfere with lap swimmers by crossing or swimming under the lap lanes.
- Toys must be kept out of the lap lanes.
Specific Diving Well Rules
- Hands must enter the water first on headfirst dives.
- After each entry, exit quickly to the nearest ladder.
- U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets are the only flotation devices allowed in the diving well.
- One person allowed on the board at a time.
- One bounce allowed for each dive or jump.
- Dive or jump directly off the boards. No sit dives, cartwheels, round-offs or blind-man games.
- Wait until the previous diver has cleared the board before stepping on the board.
- Catching swimmers off the end of the boards is not permitted.
- Do not attempt new tricks or dives without trained supervision.
- Do not perform any dive the staff has deemed un-safe.
Specific Wading Pool Rules
- There is no Lifeguard on duty. Parents or guardians are responsible for the safety of occupants in the wading pool.
- The wading pool is limited to the use of non-swimmers only. Non-swimmers who are tall enough to safely stand in the shallow end are encouraged to use the main pool with parent or guardian supervision.

- All children using the wading pool must be accompanied and supervised by persons at least 12 years of age at all times.
- Persons supervising occupants of the wading pool must alert the office staff of any accidents that occur in the wading pool.
- Waterproof pants, such as "swimmies" must be worn if child is not potty trained.
- The wading pool is closed during the 10-minute rest break (adult swim) that is announced by the lifeguards each hour.
Inclement Weather/Lightning Policy
- If the outside temperature is below 65 degrees, the pool will be closed. It will reopen as the temperature exceeds 65 degrees. A sign will be posted on the gate to inform members of the closure.
- In the event of a thunder and/or lightning storm, the lifeguards will adhere to the National Lightning Safety Institute policy and require all swimmers to exit the water and remain out of the water for 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder. Each episode of lightning and/or thunder will require swimmers to remain out of the water for 30 minutes. If the storm is extensive enough to hinder swimming for 60 minutes, the pool will close until the storm has subsided. For the safety of pool members and their guests, the staff has the authority to clear the pool grounds and close the facility in the event of any thunder and/or lightning storm.
- Members may swim during a rainstorm as long as the bottom of the pool is clearly visible and there is no thunder and/or lightning in the area.
